Malsfeld – With effect from May 1, 2019, Dr. Klaus Ruhnau has been appointed to the Executive Board of the Dr. Schumacher Group. The 59-year-old is responsible for marketing, sales and science and acts as spokesman for the Executive Board.

The company, which currently employs around 1,850 people at eight sites worldwide, has been managed since May 1 by the triumvirate of Dierk and Jens Schumacher – both managing partners – and Dr. Klaus Ruhnau. Born in Recklinghausen, Germany, Dr. Klaus Ruhnau studied biology and biochemistry and earned a doctorate in medical biochemistry. He is a proven industry expert who has held positions at Sanofi, Beiersdorf, Hartmann and Bode, where he was Managing Director for the last several years. Dr. Klaus Ruhnau will contribute his extensive experience in business development and managing complex corporate structures in internationally operating corporations in order to support the company’s continuous further development and increasingly international orientation.

“In addition to the medical sector, large drugstore chains, renowned branded companies and trading companies from all over the world rely on the extensive range of products and services offered by Dr. Schumacher. This needs to be expanded further," says Jens Schumacher. “We need to be broadly positioned strategically in order to meet the diverse demands of the markets.”

Jens Schumacher is responsible for Human Resources, Finance and Controlling, while Dierk Schumacher is responsible for Consumer, Purchasing, Production, Logistics and Technology. Dr. Klaus Ruhnau is responsible for the segments Marketing, National Brand Sales including International Sales and Private Label, Business Development and Science.

“I am very pleased about the trust that the Schumacher family has placed in me and about the opportunity to further develop a healthy, value-oriented and successful company internationally,” said Dr. Klaus Ruhnau.
