EMAS certification

The series continues: For the eighth year running, Dr. Schumacher GmbH has been awarded the highly-coveted seal of approval from the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) for its environmentally friendly and sustainable approach.

Since first receiving the award in 2010, the family company, which is based in Hesse, has regularly improved its environmental management procedures and is pleased to announce that it has once again passed its EU ECO audit.

What is special about this is that EMAS is one of the most stringent and thorough environmental certification schemes in Europe. This fact is particularly noteworthy given than the EU already leads the world in exacting environmental standards. This demonstrates that even manufacturers such as Dr. Schumacher GmbH can work with chemicals using environmentally friendly procedures with sustainable consumption of resources.

As part of the EMAS certification, Dr. Schumacher GmbH is not only obliged to satisfy all legally binding environmental requirements but to also regularly review and improve its environmental performance by setting suitable targets.

Commenting on this development, Dr Manfred Möller, who is responsible for quality and environmental management at Dr. Schumacher GmbH explained: ‘We place considerable importance on the need to reduce our CO₂ emissions and to minimise our energy and water consumption during production.’ ‘We are very proud to have been certified with the EU environmental quality seal for the last eight years.’
